Applications for the 2026 Young Artist Competition are now closed.
The Young Artist Competition is open to flutists from the age of 18-30 as of May 2026.
A preliminary recorded round is required. All applicants must have their videos submitted by 11:59 EST on March 22nd, 2026, with an application fee of $25 due upon submission. All application fees are non-refundable. Those applying to the Young Artist competition will have their Flute Day registration fee waived.
Young Artists must be current members of the flute society. Membership dues are $15 for students and $25 for the general public. The membership lasts until the end of the calendar year, unless created between November or December, in which they will be extended until the end of the following December.

If recording at home, please make sure you are recording away from loud background noise, including but not limited to fans, refrigerators.
Each piece must be in a continuous and unedited take. Repeats optional.
Piano accompaniment is required for the final round. Finalists can choose to bring their own pianist, or perform with pianists provided by the Cincinnati Flute Society for an additional fee.
All decisions made by the judges are final.

Enesco Cantabile et Presto and contrasting piece, not to exceed 15 minutes
1st Prize: $500, sponsored by Brannen Brothers Flute Makers, Inc.
2nd Prize: $300, sponsored by T’s Woodwinds
3rd Prize: $200, sponsored by Willis Music
