The Junior Artist Competition is open to all students from 7th Grade to 12th Grade.
A preliminary recorded round is required. All applicants must have their videos submitted by 11:59 EST on March 15th, 2026, with an application fee of $25 due upon submission. All application fees are non-refundable. To celebrate our inaugural flute day, those applying to the Young Artist competition will have their Flute Day registration fee waived.
Junior Artists must be current members of the flute society. Membership dues are $15 for students and $25 for the general public. The membership lasts until the end of the calendar year, unless created between November or December, in which they will be extended until the end of the following December.
Each piece must be in a continuous and unedited take. Piano accompaniment is highly encouraged, but not necessary.
Piano accompaniment is required for the final round. Finalists can choose to bring their own pianist, or perform with pianists provided by the Cincinnati Flute Society for an additional fee.
All decisions made by the judges are final.
If recording at home, please make sure you are recording away from loud background noise, including but not limited to fans, refrigerators.
